The ancient Egyptians were very family oriented. Physically and emotionally, they were a lot like the modern man. Technology, however, had not been invented yet to make their life easier.

Much like modern times, the ancient Egyptians fell in love, married and had families. Their families were extremely important to them. They worked and they struggled, much like we do today. Ancient Egypt daily life saw people, quite often, living in houses made of mud bricks. One interesting fact about daily life in Egypt is that beer was the drink of choice. It was that way for everyone. The rich and the poor, the adults and the children. The main reason they drank beer was they did not believe the water was safe to drink. They also feared that the milk had germs. The families also had pets, much the same way we do. There were the farm animals and the cats and dogs. In Ancient Egypt, the boys would go to school and the girls learned at home. The culture did seem to reach into the future when it came to marriage. Prenuptial agreements were entered into before the marriage took place. The agreement allowed for monies for the wife, payable by her husband. Also, anything she took into the marriage would remain hers. This was probably done because divorce was an option, during this time.

The ancient Egyptians had very little technology, but did have some. They invented the ramp and the lever. These were often used to construct the massive pyramids of the times. Some people believe that there is evidence that indicated there were electric lights used in Ancient Egypt. That would truly be considered being before your time and more advanced than the countries around you. They also made advances in glass working, furniture making and paper.

It may have been a different era, but the way people lived in ancient egypt often mirrors the way that some people live today. So if you are thinking about your own daily life, you can often say, the ancient Egyptians have already done this.
